Creamed Potatoes
Creamed potatoes, also known as creamy mashed potatoes, are a classic comfort food that brings warmth and satisfaction to any meal. This beloved side dish features fluffy, buttery potatoes whipped to perfection and enriched with a velvety cream sauce. The process begins by selecting the ideal potatoes, typically Russets or Yukon Golds, known for their starchy texture and ability to create a smooth mash.
To prepare creamed potatoes, the potatoes are first peeled and cubed, then boiled until tender. Once cooked, they are drained and returned to the pot, where they are mashed with a blend of rich cream, butter, and seasonings like salt and pepper. Some variations also incorporate garlic, sour cream, or cream cheese to enhance flavor and creaminess. The result is a luscious, decadent dish that pairs beautifully with meats, vegetables, and gravies.
